Intensive classes
Description:
The instruction is based on dialogues taken from everyday life. Students learn the language as it is spoken by native speakers. They take part actively in situational role plays where they discover the nuances of the language, as well as the grammar and vocabulary necessary for both comprehension and oral production. Grammar instruction is presented indirectly in conversation activities and situational role plays.
Our small groups (3 to 7 students) allow students to participate actively and ensure personalized attention.
Also, the (Café linguistique) is included for free to allow more practice and exposure to the real language, as spoken by native speakers from here and abroad.
Objectives
Based on the principle of immersion, the student is exposed daily to the second language, with classes in the morning followed by group conversation practice in the afternoon, where he or she will have the opportunity to practice with native speakers of his or her second language. In this accelerated program, you will rapidly acquire the fundamentals of grammar and pronunciation, all the while enriching your vocabulary.
Beginner level : 120h
After 120 hours of French courses you will be able to speak your second language well enough to get by in everyday discussions. You will be able to greet people, ask for directions, cope with everyday needs, give basic information about yourself, and talk about your interests, your family, and your studies. You should also be able to assist visitors in your country in your language of study.
You will understand native speakers quite well when they speak slowly about topics with which you are familiar.
You will be able to write in the language you study well enough to fill out forms, take notes and write letters. Finally, you will gain an understanding of the language structure, its phonetics, grammar, and vocabulary.
Intermediate level : 120 h
You will be able to read newspaper and magazine articles dealing with current events or other familiar topics.
With the help of a dictionary, you will be able to read more specialized material in your field of interest.
You will understand well enough to get the main ideas from a news broadcast.
You will be able to interact easily with native speakers of your second language, able to express yourself fluently, and at ease when speaking about subjects in which you are interested.
Intermediate advanced level : 120h
You will be proficient enough in your second language to use it in your professional activities.
You will be able to hold a conversation with your clients at a professional level, and conduct a presentation in front of an audience.
You will be able to understand information and news on the radio or on television, in detail and on any subject.
You will be able to write well enough to fill out forms, take notes and write letters. You will be able to write papers for your studies, present your views on any subject correctly and clearly.
Master level 120h
In this class you will be exposed to the nuances of the language in its syntax and structure, as well as to false cognates and idiomatic expressions. This is a program specially designed to help develop ease, confidence and spontaneity in the second language, to build vocabulary, master pronunciation, and to develop listening and communication skills, as well as creativity and ease when speaking in front of a group. By the end of the session, you will be able to speak, understand and write the language without error, on the same level as native speakers of the language.
